ABOUT THE LIBRARY

Rabindra Mahavidyalaya Library system consists of one Central Library and eight Seminar Libraries (i.e. Departmental Libraries for Hons. Departments). The Central Library is situated at the ground floor of Vidyasagar Bhavan Building of the college with an area of 8035.85 sq. feet and properly arranged and decorated. Total collection of printed books is 32497 (up to December, 2020). Besides, the Mahavidyalaya Library has many non-book materials. Both open and closed access systems have been maintained simultaneously in the Central Library. Different services are regularly being rendered such as: circulation service, reading room service, career guidance service, reprographic service, Wi-Fi service, etc.  The Central Library has six computers and one dedicated server computer that maintains Koha Library Management Software. Actually Koha software has been used in the library from 2016. Besides, the Central Library has one Xerox machine, one laser printer, one scanner cum printer, one barcode printer and two barcode scanners. Users can access the library and/or its portal through mobile/PC using Wi-Fi freely in the library premises. The Mahavidyalaya Library is the institutional member of British Council Library, Kolkata and Inflibnet N-LIST, India. It successfully maintains CCTV cameras. The Central Library  organizes Library Day Programme, Workshop, Book Exhibition and Orientation Programme for the users at frequent interval.The Mahavidyalaya Library usually used to procure books in each and every year. This library is highly used by the faculty members, students and non-teaching staff members of the Mahavidyalaya.
